Find my iPhone causes iPhone owner to get arrested - iphone repairs sydney specialist

posted May 27, 2011 2:48 AM by Apple iPhone Specialist Customer Service   [ updated Mar 28, 2012 11:25 PM by David Kang ]

In one of the most interesting “Find My iPhone” cases reported recently, a man was sent to jail for trying to be a vigilante. Just in case you didn’t know, Find My iPhone is an iPhone tracking service that Apple introduced not too long ago to for iOS devices. Basically if your iPhone was stolen, misplaced or left somewhere, you can use the service to locate it.

US youth baseball umpire Carl Ippolito misplaced his iPhone and decided to use Find My iPhone to locate it. Using his son’s iPhone, he tracked his own iPhone to a location nearby where his phone was missing and he saw a man, named Brent Johnson, speaking on an iPhone.

When confronted about the phone, Johnson denied that he had stolen the phone from Ippolito. Not believing him, Ippolito took Johnson down to the ground and started attacking him. While it wasn’t mentioned how the fight ended, Ippolito later found his phone in the snack shack where he had been umpiring a youth baseball game earlier.

The police later arrested Ippolito on charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct. I wonder how Ippolito feels about the whole thing right now. If only he had locked his iPhone or made it ring remotely before trying to claim it from another man, it would have saved him from getting arrested. I guess we can all learn a lesson from this guy. Have any of you used Find My iPhone to successfully locate your iPhone before?

When is iPhone Battery Replacement Needed? - iPhone Repairs Sydney Specialist

posted May 12, 2011 5:19 AM by Apple iPhone Specialist Customer Service   [ updated by Stephanie Wei ]

Are you worried about your iPhone battery that now discharges very quickly?

Are you confused about whether or not you should go for Apple iPhone battery replacement immediately?

Most of the iPhone users usually take the iPhone battery issues very lightly. If you think your iPhone is one of the smartest handheld electronic gadgets in market today, you’re certainly right. But, if you think your iPhone battery is also exceptional and that it doesn’t need any replacement, let me tell you that you’re wrong! The iPhone battery life backlash still continues to plague the Apple’s iconic device. Therefore, being an iPhone owner, you must be extra careful about the battery.

Like all other phone batteries, even your iPhone battery has a short lifespan of merely two years. And mind it, that the battery might not even last that long if you fail to take proper care of it. Believe it or not, but this is a bitter fact about an iPhone battery. And therefore, iPhone battery replacement at the right time is extremely necessary. But, when exactly one should go for the replacement of the iPhone battery is an important question that needs to be answered first. Like every other product in the market, even your iPhone battery has an expiry period, that is, a time after which it becomes useless. You must be aware of this particular time and here’s how you can actually keep a track of it.

The bad news is that your iPhone battery starts dying slowly right from the day you start using the device. Each time you complete one charge cycle on your iPhone, you actually end up losing nearly 30 sec - 1 minute of your total battery capacity. Note that going through one complete charge cycle refers to using the entire battery capacity once. For example, if you drain 2/3rd of your iPhone battery today and recharge it, and then use 1/3rd of it tomorrow and recharge it again, it will still be taken as one charge cycle! So, it usually takes 200-250 such full charge cycles for the entire lithium ion battery of the iPhone to completely outlive its usefulness. At this point, it becomes vital to get the iPhone battery replacement done as soon as possible.

Here are a few things that reduce iPhone battery life by degrading its capacity faster -
- Using the battery at extreme temperatures, such as temperatures less than 40oF and more than 95oF
- Regularly letting the battery drain completely before charging it again (This practice should be followed only once a month, but definitely not daily)
If you don’t take care of these things, you’ll probably have to go for battery replacement very soon. You can get iPhone replacement battery from any repair store. However, it is advisable to get it done at the reputed local iPhone repair store. For instance, if you are looking for iPhone 3g battery replacement, you must contact the repair store in your locality to get the job done. If you are a resident of Sydney, I think ‘iPhone repairs Hurstville Center’ is the best place to get any iPhone battery replacement done in no time with utmost precision and warranty.

apple iphone 4, Apple iPhone 5 Release Date Uncertain: 10 Reasons to Buy iPhone 4 Now - iphone repairs sydney specialist

posted May 6, 2011 6:09 PM by Apple iPhone Specialist Customer Service   [ updated May 12, 2011 5:37 AM ]

As summer nears, the talk surrounding the iPhone 5 is picking up. As with previous years, there is rampant speculation that Apple will be launching the latest iteration of its wildly popular smartphone in June or July. In previous years, the company has announced the new iPhone at the Worldwide Developers Conference and then launched it over the summer.

Considering all the rumors surrounding the possible launch of the iPhone 5, many consumers and even some enterprise customers are likely on the fence about whether they should opt for the iPhone 4 now or wait to see what Apple releases the iPhone 5 later this year. It’s an understandable concern and it’s something that no one can answer definitively until Apple finally makes its move.

But for those who don’t want to wait, there are several good reasons to opt for the iPhone 4 now, rather than hold off for the iPhone 5.

Read on to find out more about why customers looking for a new smartphone should go with an iPhone 4 as soon as possible.

1. The iPhone 5 launch date is unknown

As of this writing, the latest reports on the iPhone 5 say that the device won’t launch this summer. Exactly why the smartphone might not be coming out in June or July is unknown at this point, but given those reports, consumers shouldn’t wait. If the iPhone 5 is delayed, and folks know they want an iPhone, putting it off for another month or two doesn’t make all that much sense.

2. The white iPhone is here

After a long (long) wait, Apple has finally released the white iPhone on both AT&T’s and Verizon’s networks in the United States. According to reviews, the device performs exceptionally well, and offers the same level of usability as the black version. if the white iPhone suits a consumer’s eye, it’s best to opt for the device now, rather than wait to see if Apple offers up a white iPhone 5. It’s better to go with something that looks nice no rather than gamble on something that might not hold up.

3. There’s no waiting for Verizon

Over the past several years, the decision by some consumers to put off buying an iPhone and go with another device because the iPhone was only running on AT&T’s network was understandable. But now that both the black and white versions of the iPhone 4 are running on Verizon’s network, worrying about carrier availability is no longer an issue. If a consumer needs a smartphone now Apple has many (but not all) of their bases covered when it comes to availability.

4. Android and BlackBerry alternatives aren’t as great

If one looks around the marketplace right now, they won’t necessarily find so many worthwhile alternatives to the iPhone 4. Motorola, HTC, and Samsung are offering nice options and RIM’s BlackBerry is great for enterprise users. But when it comes to the combination of design, specifications, and software, it’s hard to find a better smartphone right now than the iPhone 4. Other devices might have a bigger display or a faster processor, but when all the many factors that go into a buying decision are considered, Apple’s smartphone still leads the pack.

5. The 4G craze hasn’t started yet

If one spends enough time following major wireless carriers, they will hear quite a bit about 4G connectivity. The ultra-high-speed connection is quickly becoming an important component in all the carriers’ strategies. However, those networks aren’t as readily available as they should be. There are some design compromises that go along with putting a 4G chip into a smartphone. Don’t get caught up in 4G just yet. Most experts agree that the 4G push won’t even matter to most consumers until next year.

6. Don’t expect a major iPhone 5 update

As with every other iPhone launch, speculation abounds that Apple will throw everything but the kitchen sink into its iPhone 5. However, the chances of that happening seem rather slim. From a spec perspective, the iPhone 4 is still competing quite well with competitors, which means the Apple is raking in the money and is feeling no pressure to offer a revolutionary upgrade. Like the iPad 2, the iPhone 5 will likely come with a better processor. It will also offer some hardware improvements here and there, and the same price tag as the iPhone 4. Other than that, don’t expect anything groundbreaking.

7. Don’t fear the antenna problem

When the iPhone 4 first launched, there was widespread outcry over the device’s antenna problems. When a person held the device in a “death grip,” the signal quality would decline. Apple addressed the problem by offering free cases. Admittedly, that’s not the best solution. But as Steve Jobs pointed out, the iPhone isn’t alone in experiencing the issue. Worst of all, so far, there hasn’t been a suitable solution to the problem. Considering that, and the fact that consumers will likely want a case for the iPhone 4 anyway, the antenna issue shouldn’t be enough for someone to wait for the iPhone 5.

8. The iPhone 3GS is awfully outdated

There are some people in the marketplace that are currently running an iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS. Although those devices hold up against less-capable smartphones today, it’s clear that they’re becoming outdated quite quickly. Those folks that are using previous versions of the iPhone and still want to stick with Apple’s smartphones should go with the iPhone 4 now. They’ll find a lot to like in the newer model, including FaceTime support, an improved design, and much more.

9. There’s no better software platform out there

Over the last year, Android has become a much better mobile operating system for both consumers and enterprise customers. In fact, Android 2.2 “Froyo” is arguably the best Android option on the market right now. But it still can’t match iOS 4. Apple’s platform is more refined and comes with a better browser than what’s available to Android users. That might change in the coming years, but for now, if a person is looking to get their hands on a new smartphone, opting for an iPhone 4 might be the best bet if software usability is a determining factor in their buying decision.

10. The sooner you buy, the sooner you can get the next big thing

In order to take advantage of the iPhone 4’s $199 and $299 price tag, consumers must enter into a two-year agreement with AT&T or Verizon. That means for the next two years, they will be forced to stick with the iPhone 4. Although that’s not necessarily the best scenario, it’s worth keeping in mind that the sooner a new smartphone is purchased and the contract is signed, the sooner the customer can get their hands on the next big thing two years from now. As mentioned, the iPhone 5 likely won’t be a revolutionary upgrade over the iPhone 4. But future devices just might be. Opting for the iPhone 4 now and waiting it out for something major two years from now looks to be a fine plan.

apple iphone 4, New BlackBerry Bold 9900 resembles the Apple iPhone 4 - iphone repairs sydney specialist

posted May 3, 2011 6:15 PM by Apple iPhone Specialist Customer Service   [ updated May 12, 2011 5:40 AM ]

JUST in case they cannot beat them, BlackBerry appeared to join Apple overnight in creating a smartphone with a glass body, stainless steel frame and touch-sensitive screen.

The email-friendly smartphone maker revealed the familiar features in a new flagship phone that will be the thinnest BlackBerry to date, giving it a profile that closely resembles the Apple iPhone 4 and cementing competition in the phone market.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900, due in Australia this year, will add one feature yet to debut in an Apple gadget, however. Near Field Communication in the new BlackBerry could let the phone double as a credit card, as well as reading information from public posters.

Despite the phone's new design, touchscreen and power, spokesman for RIM - the makers of BlackBerry - Carlo Chiarello said the company remained focussed on keeping its email-chasing, keyboard-using audience loyal.

"This is absolutely the best keyboard we have brought into a product bar none," he said. "This is the most uncompromising BlackBerry yet."

Its similarities with Apple's iPhone could help the Canadian phone maker as the battle for smartphone dominance becomes more cutthroat.

Google pulled to the front of the smartphone race at the end of last year with 32.9 per cent of the market, followed by Nokia (30.6%) and Apple (16.2%).

RIM BlackBerry fell to fourth spot worldwide with 14.6 per cent, down from a 20 per cent share and second place in 2009.

In addition to the company's new smartphone unveiled at BlackBerry World in Orlando, RIM will focus on its 7-inch tablet, the PlayBook, due to be released in Australia shortly.

The company yesterday launched a video-calling application for the PlayBook, as well as the first official Facebook application developed for a tablet computer, beating Apple and Google to the punch.

apple iphone 4, White iPhone 4 is 0.2mm thicker - iphone repair sydney specialist

posted Apr 29, 2011 12:57 AM by Apple iPhone Specialist Customer Service   [ updated Apr 29, 2011 1:08 AM ]

Initial reports suggest that the long-delayed white iPhone 4 is 0.2mm thicker than its black counterpart and may not fit all cases. Also, Samsung revealed Thursday in its quarterly earnings report that its profit dropped to the company's lowest figure in almost two years. Finally, Logitech reported disappointing Google TV sales of just $5 million last quarter.

White iPhone 4

After early adopters of Apple's recently released white iPhone 4 reported noticing an apparent difference in thickness between the black iPhone 4 and the white version, TiPb conducted measurements of the two devices. The report found that the white iPhone 4 is roughly 0.2mm thicker than the black model.

Apple lists the depth of both the white iPhone 4 and the black iPhone 4 as 9.3mm, or 0.37 inch. Tests of various cases found that most cases were unaffected by the difference, though a few "were just a tad tight."

The exact cause of the increase in thickness on the white iPhone 4 remains unclear, though some have speculated that a new paint mix and UV protection contribute to the difference. AppleInsider reported earlier this year that Apple had partnered with a Japanese company to develop a new paint material for the white iPhone 4.

In an interview earlier this week, Apple Senior Vice President Phil Schiller explained that a number of reasons, including the need for more protection from ultraviolet rays from the sun, contributed to the 10-month delay.

Analyst Brian White of Ticonderoga Securities sees Apple selling between 1 to 1.5 million units of the white iPhone 4 each in the June and September quarters.

We’re seeing how the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo stands up against the golden-boy of the mobile world, the Apple iPhone 4. But which of these devices will come out on top?

Published on Apr 27, 2011

We’re all aware of just how popular the iPhone 4, and indeed all Apple products, are but we want to see if one of Sony Ericssons’ newest devices, the Xperia Neo can match up to the iPhone 4 in terms of stats, and potentially challenge its place at the top of the pile.

Build
Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo - 116 x 57 x 13 mm - 126g
Apple iPhone 4 - 115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3 mm – 137g

The iPhone 4 is famous for its minimalist design and sleek good looks. It’s classic Apple with a large screen, unibody form and stainless steel edges, which gives the device an unfussy feel. The whole handset features just one button, and the back is made from high-shine glass.

However, despite Apple’s insistence that the glass is reinforced, we’ve heard more than one account of the iPhone 4 shattering completely after just one drop, so don’t even think about buying this device if you’re a butter fingers.

The Xperia Neo is also a large screened device, but is made from environmentally friendly materials, such as recycled plastic, and the manual is included on the phone memory to reduce the need for printing onto paper.

It’s a good looking phone, with the buttons discreetly nestled on the front and sides, and gives the feel of an expensive handset while boasting a budget price tag.

Winner – Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo

Screen
The Xperia Neo has a respectable 3.7-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen which displays 480x854 pixels and has a scratch-resistant surface, accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate and multi-touch input method. It also boasts Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine, the same technology used in Sony's high-end televisions, which gives a crystal clear viewing experience.

Despite all of the advances that other manufacturers are making with their screen technology, no-one seems to be able to do better that the IPS Retina Display that comes with the iPhone 4. The device sports a 3.5-inch LED-backlit IPS TFT capacitive touchscreen which gives clarity that is second to none, and continues to beat even its closest competitors by a mile.

Winner – iPhone 4

Your iPhone is no doubt one among the best gadgets available in the market today. It's indeed a device that you can truly be proud of. But, you've to accept the fact that like all other handsets, even the iPhone is not perfect! It is fragile and its glass can easily break if handled carelessly. Even its touch screen is delicate and can have certain issues at times. So, are you too facing any such touch screen issue? Is your iPhone touch screen not working or responding properly? If that is the case, here's a quick solution for you.

Sometimes, it might so happen that the top and bottom rows on your iPhone's touch screen become unresponsive. Although the reason for this is unknown, this is a common complaint reported by many iPhone users. Before seeing the various options available for touch repair, let's understand how you can prevent this issue. To prevent this kind of a problem with the touch screen of your iPhone, it is advisable to have the 2-year AppleCare Plan with you. If you didn't take it at the time of purchase, you can even apply for it now. This will help you to notify Apple at the very first hint of probable problems. Besides, a number of accessories have been made available by the company to protect your precious device from all sorts of damages.
A number of iPhone users post complaints, such as "iPhone touch screen not working", on various public forums almost every day. If you are one of these troubled iPhone owners, here are a few procedures that you can take to try and fix this touch screen problem on your iPhone. If a certain app has frozen on your iPhone, it might not be a very serious issue like it seems to be. You can try fixing it by simply using the home button to unfreeze the device. Most likely, this will fix the issue without requiring you to take any additional steps.

If the above solution doesn't work, you may try restarting your iPhone. This can be easily done by pressing the ‘square button' present below the screen (right at the bottom of your phone) and the bottom of the extreme top right of the device at the same time. It is very similar to holding down the middle and the menu button simultaneously when restarting the iPod! Thus, simply restarting the iPhone can sometimes resolve the issue of a non-responsive touch screen. However, in this process, make sure that before you restart, you have a backup file saved on your computer.
If that also doesn't work, you may choose to send your iPhone to the Apple repair center. Though the repair is a little costly, it is completely safe and guaranteed. You have to register your problem online as "iPhone touch screen not working" and take a prior appointment to get the touch repair done. If there is no Apple service center nearby, you can easily send your iPhone for touch screen repair at a local iPhone repair specialist store. You may find the contact address of several such stores online by typing ‘iPhone touch repairs' or just ‘iPhone repairs' followed by your locality name in Google or any other search engine. For example, if you reside near Hurstville Center, Sydney, searching for ‘iPhone repairs Hurstville center' in Google can get you all the required information.

Being an iPhone user, you must be already aware of the fact that your invaluable device is very delicate and highly breakable. It is made of fragile materials that make it highly prone to damage even in case of slight impact against a hard surface. The glass screen of your iPhone is in fact the most sensitive part of the device. In majority of mishaps, it is the iPhone glass screen that gets shattered or damage. The only solution to this is to go for good iPhone screen repair at a reputed iPhone repair store in your locality. So, now the question is when exactly the Apple iPhone screen repair is required? There are a number of accidents that may lead to iPhone screen damage and would require immediate repair of the broken or smashed iPhone screen by certified iPhone specialists.

In most of the cases, people end up damaging the glass screens by mistakenly dropping their iPhone on the pavement or any other hard surface. In such an event, the screen either gets smashed completely or develops breaks or web-like cracks on its surface. The fine pieces of broken glass can get inside and damage the entire internal circuitry of the iPhone, thereby leading to permanent damage. Therefore, when your iPhone screen gets damaged, it becomes extremely necessary to get in touch with a local iPhone repair specialist as soon as possible for immediate broken iPhone screen repair.
In a similar unfortunate event, if your iPhone drops on the road or the pavement while walking and happens to get run over by a vehicle or stamped by a pedestrian, its frail glass screen is bound to get smashed completely. Consequently, while your iPhone might continue to function, you wouldn’t be able to access the home screen or any of your ‘expensive’ apps! Besides, the possibility of the fine glass pieces getting inside and causing internal damage to the device also can’t be ruled out. To avoid such kind of damages, it is advisable to get your iPhone covered by a crystal film that would keep the inner glass intact in case such an accident does happen. But, if the damage has already happened, it is best to go for smashed iPhone screen repair, which is now offered at almost all the specialized iPhone repair stores in the city.

As mentioned earlier, an iPhone screen is extremely fragile. It serves as a control board for the device. Therefore, if the iPhone screen gets damaged to an extent that you are not able to use it anymore, your iPhone would become practically useless. Even if there is a slight crack on the screen your iPhone might not be able to function at the highest possible level. This is because dust and dirt gets inside the device via this crack and spoils the internal circuits in the long run. That’s why cracked iPhone screen repair is extremely important. Considering the kind of damage a broken screen can cause in future if left unattended, it is advisable to go for cheap iPhone screen repair at the earliest.

Apple iPhone 5 Won't Feature NFC Technology - Broken iPhone Repair Specialist in Sydney

posted Apr 4, 2011 11:20 PM by Apple iPhone Specialist Customer Service   [ updated Mar 13, 2012 12:00 AM by Stephanie Wei ]

Apple's next iPhone
will not feature Near Field Communications (NFC) technology that allows mobile phone users to pay for goods and services by simply waving their handset across a special contactless reader in a store.

A source told The Independent: "The new iPhone will not have NFC. Apple told the operators it was concerned by the lack of a clear standard across the industry."

However, the source also said Apple is working on its own version of NFC that will let users pay for goods and service via their iTunes account. It is thought a handset featuring the technology will hit the market in 2012.

It's unlikely that the successor to the iPhone 4 will have NFC technology embedded in the handset

It had been thought Apple was likely to include the technology in the next version of the iPhone, which is due out later this year, after the company hired Benjamin Vigier, who previously was product manager for mobile wallet, payment and NFC at mFoundry.

Google's latest rival to Apple's smartphone, the Nexus S, which is also the successor to Google's Nexus One 'superphone', is the first widely available handset to have the technology embedded in the phone.
